NHS and Private eye examinations - a full half an hour is allowed for examinations (more if needed). Every eye examination includes an assessment of ocular and general health. Our well equipped practices include digitally generated test charts, visual field analysers and imaging systems. For entitlements see NHS information page HERE - Please note that this NHS site will not allow you to search for an optician in Wales.
Wales Eye Care Services Examinations - for details click HERE - all of our permanent optometrists are trained and accredited to provide these more detailed examinations. This service is provided FREE of charge by the Welsh Government. See "Wales Eye Care Service".
Eye Care for all the Family - children are welcome. We have a range of complete spectacles for children "free" with an NHS voucher.
Glaucoma screening - is a normal part of our routine eye examination.
Digital retinal photography - the latest equipment allows us to keep a permanent record of the appearance of the tissues at the back of the eye, aiding in the earlier diagnosis of eye disease.
Colour vision testing.
Diabetic retinopathy screening - all of our permanent optometrists were trained and enrolled for the Flintshire Diabetic Screening Programme - this nowadays is carried out by the all-Wales Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Service although we remain ever watchful for the effects of diabetes on the structures of the eyes.
Continuity - A high proportion of professional to support staff. Our regular optometrists and members of the support staff have been associated with the practices for between 10 and 40 years.
Children's Eye Care- Regular eye examinations are important for people of all ages but especially children during the formative years, when so much of their development is based on their ability to see properly. Children with visual difficulties often under-perform in the classroom and the signs of poor vision can so easily go undetected without regular eye examinations. We pride ourselves on offering a thorough eye examination for everyone from childhood to old age.
Digital Retinal Photography - Digital retinal photography is a quick and painless procedure which enables us to keep an accurate picture of the retina - the internal back surface as well as exterior images of the eye. This allows comparison of the eyes from one examination to the next - helping in the earlier detection and treatment of sight threatening conditions.
Digital Retinal Photography is only available in our Mold practice.
The retina is the only place in the body where blood vessels can be viewed directly and therefore can be an indicator of circulatory problems such as raised blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes and photography provides you with added peace of mind that your eyes are healthy.
